DSWD distributes P45.2M cash assistance to residents of 2 Romblon towns

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — A total of P45.2 million in cash assistance was distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to 4,798 residents of Odiongan and San Andres towns, Romblon province in just one week.

The distribution began on November 26, when 2,225 residents of San Andres received P10,000 each under the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), amounting to a total of P22.25 million. Congressman Eleandro Jesus Madrona, Governor Jose Riano, Vice Governor Armando Gutierrez, and Mayor Arsenio Gadon attended the event.

On November 27, an additional 348 beneficiaries from Odiongan were provided with financial assistance under the same program.

A large single-day distribution also occurred on November 29, when Congressman Erwin Tulfo, along with DSWD Assistant Secretary for Specialized Programs Florentino Y. Loyola Jr., DSWD MIMAROPA Assistant Regional Director for Operations Sheila Tapia, and Odiongan Vice Mayor Diven Dimaala, led the distribution of P22.25 million assistance to 2,225 Odiongan residents.

During his visit, Tulfo emphasized that the aid is part of President Bongbong Marcos’ commitment to uplift Filipinos from poverty and ensure that no one is left behind in the country’s recovery efforts.

Gare Gaa, the SLP Coordinator for Romblon, emphasized the thorough process of cross-checking and verifying program beneficiaries to ensure there is no duplication in the allocation of government aid.

Beneficiaries are also required to present proof of receipt and documentation demonstrating that the cash assistance was utilized for its intended purpose in their chosen livelihood ventures. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
