DSWD continues to provide augmentation support to Ilocos Sur LGUs affected by Carina

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA)—The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to provide augmentation support to localities in Ilocos Sur affected by Super Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.

As of Thursday, July 25, 800 food packs have been delivered to Candon City, which will benefit families from 47 barangays in the province’s Second District.

Each pack contains essential items such as rice, canned goods, coffee, and cereal.

To provide immediate relief to displaced families, the DSWD also distributed hygiene and sleeping kits to 75 individuals currently staying in an evacuation center in Vigan City.

Hygiene kits include essential toiletries like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, and sanitary napkins, while sleeping kits consist of blankets, mats, mosquito nets, and pillows.

The city government has likewise provided hot meals to these evacuees.

Kristine Sheila Amoroso, DSWD Ilocos regional information officer, said the agency is preparing additional relief supplies to support those affected by the calamity.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office is also set to distribute repackaged goods to residents.

The DSWD and local government units are working closely to address the needs of the affected communities and ensure their well-being. (AMB/ATV/PIA Ilocos Sur)
