BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera (DSWD-CAR) continues to work closely with local government units (LGUs) to ensure the timely delivery of assistance and services to typhoon-affected population.

DSWD-CAR Regional Director Maria Catbagan-Aplaten said the distribution of relief supplies is being closely coordinated with concerned LGUs.

“Lagi po tayong handa. Alam naman po natin na ang mandate ng DSWD ay augmentation pero nandiyan po tayo lagi at the lookout para po maihatid natin ang tulong sa lalong madaling panahon,” Aplaten assured.

As of 12 noon on Nov. 7, 2024, the DSWD-CAR reported a total of 186 families composed of 555 individuals who were evacuated in Apayao, Abra, and Mountain Province due to typhoon Marce.

DSWD-CAR has already mobilized resources to assist those who are in need. They have prepositioned food packs in every province ready to be distributed to areas in need.

Aplaten also called on the public to be vigilant and heed the advisories from local officials.

“Ipagpatuloy po natin ang maging mapagmatyag gaya ng laging sinasabi hindi lamang po ng DSWD kundi maging mga lokal na opisyales,” she reminded.

The agency also assured  the creation of safe spaces in evacuation centers. Through the Social Welfare and Development-Apayao, they facilitated child-friendly space activities and psychosocial processes for internally displaced persons from the Aeta tribe at the San Isidro Sur Evacuation Center in Apayao.(DEG-PIA CAR)
