DSWD-funded community laundry shop opens in Sibugay

DIPLAHAN, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) here recently achieved another milestone with the opening of Faith SLP Association’s laundry shop in Poblacion, Diplahan, funded by a P270,000.00 livelihood grant.

Coralyn Cordova, president of the 18-member association, expressed her gratitude for the support given to their group. She highlighted how the grant will provide opportunities for their members to earn a sustainable income.

“We are very grateful to have received this grant because it allowed us to establish a laundry shop, which is a great help to the members of the association,” Cordova said.

The new business is expected to strengthen the association’s financial stability and help improve their financial well-being.

Dearshon Madelo, Provincial Coordinator of DSWD SLP in Zamboanga Sibugay, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to empowering communities. He emphasized that livelihood projects like this aim to uplift Sibugaynons and improve their quality of life.

The establishment of the laundry shop is part of DSWD’s ongoing efforts to provide sustainable income sources to local associations. Through these grants, the agency hopes to strengthen community resilience and economic independence.
