DSWD Mimaropa awards P600K seed capital fund for LSPAs from Aborlan

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Mimaropa awarded a total of P600,000.00 seed capital fund for four (4) Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) from Aborlan, Palawan.

The said assistance from DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) is a capability-building program that aims to increase the level of ability, experience, and skills of the beneficiaries to have a stable livelihood through business or employment.

Maligaya SLPA, Sipag SLPA, Deltag SLPA and Sexy Fourteen SLPA are among the four (4) SLPAs that received the livelihood assistance on August 2, 2023.

Maligaya and Sipag SLPA will use the said fund for a hog raising project while Deltag SLPA will start rice retailing and a cafeteria for Sexy Fourteen SLPA.

The awarding was attended by Aborlan Mayor Jaime Ortega, MSWDO Hernan Cayaon, SLP Project Development Officers (PDOs), and association leaders and members.

Mayor Ortega emphasized in his message the challenge to the members of SLPAs to enrich the received assistance and turn it into a tool for the desired development of each association.

Ortega also acknowledges the DSWD’s continuous collaboration with the local government in the pursuit of providing adequate livelihood to the residents.

Along with the ceremonial awarding, a financial literacy session was conducted as discussed by Moises Daniel Aban, Capacity Building Focal of SLP Palawan and orientation regarding Gender and Development (GAD) led by Aileen Waban, RSW, Social Welfare Officer of MSWDO. (OCJ/PIA MIMAROPA – Palawan)
