DSWD-NCR, San Juan City LGU ink partnership for Sustainable Livelihood Program

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) and the City Government of San Juan have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

The partnership was formalized during a ceremony held at the San Juan City Hall Atrium, with signatories including San Juan City Mayor Francisco Javier M. Zamora, Ms. Portia G. Esquillo (Head-CSWDD), and Ms. Hazel Grace Legaspi (Compliance Privacy Officer) from the city government, and DSWD-NCR representatives Atty. Michael Joseph J. Lorico (Regional Director), Mr. Bienvenido JR V. Barbosa (ARD for Operations), and Mr. Benchie B. Gonzales (ARD for Administration).

This collaboration aims to develop and implement social protection programs that address the needs of low-income households, empower citizens, and promote inclusive growth in San Juan City.

The signing of the MOA highlighted the partnership in support of the sustainability plan of SLP, which seeks to reduce poverty in the city through various livelihood projects and activities.

This partnership seals collaborative efforts between DSWD-NCR through the Sustainable Livelihood Program and the City Government of San Juan in developing and implementing social protection programs that address the needs of low-income households, empower citizens, and promote inclusive growth in the City,” the joint statement read.

Along with the MOA, the Specific Implementation Agreement and Data Sharing Agreement were also formally signed during the ceremony.

The event was attended by representatives from the City Social Welfare Development Department, including Vice Mayor Angelo Agcaoili, and other officials from DSWD-NCR.

The Sustainable Livelihood Program is a capacity-building initiative that helps vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals, families, and communities improve their livelihood assets and capacity to use their resources effectively.

SLP is a crucial program that empowers our citizens and communities, and we are excited to work alongside DSWD-NCR to bring its benefits to more people in San Juan City,” said Mayor Zamora.
