DSWD OccMin celebrates 72nd anniversary, holds Trade and Job Fair

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducted job fair, trade fair, and information drive as part of the agency’s 72nd anniversary celebration in Occidental Mindoro held at San Jose municipal covered plaza.

The trade fair featured Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) beneficiaries’ products across the province such as processed food, handicrafts, and agricultural products, and are available for purchase.

Mr. Albert Wyndell Tulaylay, DWSD SLP Provincial Coordinator highlighted that the trade fair aims to help the beneficiaries market their products to broader customers. He shared that they will be given an opportunity to sell the beneficiaries’ products in the San Jose Night Market in coordination with the Municipal Tourism Office.

The agency also conducted a job fair, offering opportunities for applicants to be part of the DSWD’s workforce. Ms. Remyda Avena, DSWD MIMAROPA Social Welfare Assistant explained that the face-to-face job hiring was included in the celebration to make the application process easier as the agency’s Human Resources staff personally collected the applicants’ work requirements.

“Dati kasi online lang ang application process. Ngayon, sinama na rin namin sa event [ang job fair] para mas mapadali ‘yung submission [ng mga aplikante],” Avena shared.

(Before, the application process was through online submission. Now, we included this job fair during the event to make the applicants’ submission easier.)

An information drive was also held to spread public awareness on various programs of DSWD. Information Education Materials about SLP, Social Pension, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), and other regular programs were available for the public.

DSWD regional and provincial representatives, and Mayor Rey C. Ladaga of San Jose along with other local government office staff attended the celebration. (DSG/PIA MIMAROPA)
