QUEZON CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment ( DOLE) and other government agencies, is set to provide job opportunities to 12,000 graduating members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) during the roll-out of the ‘Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas’ on Friday, January 31.
The one-stop-shop job fair kicks off at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila at 10 am and will last until 5 pm. Upon registration, the 4Ps beneficiaries from the National Capital Region (NCR) will undergo an orientation on the services offered by the participating government agencies.
After the orientation, the 4Ps members will then be given Php3,000 financial assistance each to pay for the pre-employment requirements, including medical examinations as well as transportation allowance.
The ‘Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas’ will showcase booths from the DSWD, DOLE, Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police (PNP), Social Security System (SSS), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig, and the Office of the President (OP).
The DOLE will be in-charge of coordinating with business establishments that are hiring new employees while TESDA will conduct upskilling trainings among 4Ps members to ensure that they have the needed skills for employment.
The DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) will have a ‘Sulong Trabaho’ SLP Employment Assistance Booth which will orient the 4Ps beneficiaries on the SLP’s Employment Track.
“There will be an assessment for 4Ps beneficiaries who are able to secure their employment during the job fair. They will fill up forms and once their assessment turns positive, their application will be processed in the NCR regional office,” Asst. Secretary Florentino Loyola Jr. of the SLP said.
Asst. Secretary Loyola said the eligible 4Ps beneficiaries will then be notified by the NCR Field Office for the schedule of release of their employment assistance fund or EAF.
“All eligible beneficiaries will be given a slip in the SLP booth which they will present to the regional office during the payout,” Asst. Secretary Loyola said.
The 4Ps – National Program Management Office (NPMO) will be holding this year a series of graduation ceremonies nationwide dubbed as “Pugay Tagumpay” for household beneficiaries who are scheduled to exit from the program, particularly those who have attained the level of self-sufficiency.
The 4Ps is the government’s flagship anti-poverty program that aims to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty by providing cash grants for the education and health of children below 18 years old. (DSWD)
