QUEZON CITY (PIA) — Much-needed relief goods were immediately transported by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on board a Philippine Air Force (PAF) Black Hawk helicopter to remote areas in Aparri and Cagayan that were heavily hit by Typhoon Nika (Toraji) on Nov. 12.

The relief operation was conducted by the DSWD and the PAF together with the contingents from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC).

They delivered 280 Family Food Packs (FFPs) to residents of Fuga island in Aparri and 250 FFPs to those of Calayan island, Cagayan.

The DSWD noted that it has worked with the Air Force as well as with the PNP, PCG, and PMC on several occasions to deliver relief goods to areas affected by the storms.

“Mabilis na na-unload at naipamahagi ang tulong sa mga pamilyang nangangailangan,” the social welfare department said.

The DSWD highlighted that the operation is part of the declarations made by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that “no one is left behind during these challenging times” and that “help is on the way—by land, air, or sea.” (PIA DMD)
