DSWD provides financial assistance to 3,500 families in Abra

BANGUED, Abra, (PIA) — Abrenian families who are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Cordillera received cash assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

DSWD Undersecretary Denise Florence Bernos-Bragas, DSWD-Cordillera Director Maria Catbagan-Aplaten, Department  of Labor and Employment-CAR Director Imelda Romanillos and Acting Governor Russell Bragas led the payout at the University of Abra Gymnasium during the 2025 Abrenian Kawayan Festival.

Beneficiaries from the different towns in the province each received P3,000 as additional money to buy the primary needs of  their families.

Bernos-Bragas said that although most of the beneficiaries will be graduating from the 4Ps program, the government will continue to extend assistance to the needy through livelihood and other opportunities.

[You have reached the time to graduate from  4Ps but assistance will continue to be given to you through the partnership of DSWD, DOLE, Provincial Government and other partner-agencies of our office.]

Isagani Batoon Calibuso, an AICS beneficiary from Villaviciosa,  said that he will use the cash assistance for the school supplies of his children.

[This is a big help for us, parents. I will give this as school allowance of my kids, and for their school supplies. I’m thankful for this assistance to  the 4Ps members.]

Aplaten explained that while they are beneficiaries of the 4Ps, they are not exempted from crisis such as the high prices of goods.
