CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — Seven Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) in Torrijos town, Marinduque began receiving over ₱2.2 million in seed capital fund (SCF) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA.

Each association, composed of seven to 30 members, underwent a series of training sessions, including Micro Enterprise Development Training, Basic Business Management Training, Organizational Development Training, Leadership Training, Financial Literacy, and Consumer Rights Education.

According to Fatima Concepcion P. Pelaez, SLP Marinduque Implementing Project Development Officer, this training aims to enhance the members’ skills to effectively manage their livelihoods.

“Selected livelihood projects include organic farming, portable gasoline stations, bakeries, and copra and coconut trading,” she added.

The remaining SCF of over ₱2.2 million for six other associations will be distributed on a scheduled date.

Acting Mayor Joel T. Cruzado encouraged participants to maximize the livelihood grant to alleviate poverty and assured that the local government supports both the association members and the DSWD program.

Cruzado led the distribution of the livelihood assistance alongside OIC Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and Municipal Accountant Maria Theresa F. Matienzo. (ALG/PIA MIMAROPA)
