DAVAO CITY– The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-Davao) has started the campaign in combating disinformation and spreading fake news with its Tamang Tulong sa Tamang Impormasyon (3Ti) Information Caravan.
This program is being implemented under the Sulong Dunong Knowledge Sharing Activities of the Sustainable Livelihood Program Regional Program Management Team (SLP-RPMT) and Social Marketing Unit (SMU).
The team has visited three towns in Davao del Sur which included Brgy. Upper Malinao, Padada, Davao del Sur., Brgy. Tagulilong, Sulop, Davao del Sur, Brgy. Darapuay, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
Five SLPAs were given additional knowledge in the said caravan, on April 2, 2025 – Upper Malinao Unified Farmers SLP Association were taught Goat Raising and Breeding as part of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
On April 3, the SLP RPMT at SMU visited Tagulilong United Neighborhood SLP Association to orient them on General Merchandise.
The association in Barangay Tagulilong, were given access to the internet using a coin-operated internet vending machine, even though this barangay is considered to be a Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area (GIDA).
Also included in the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area (GIDA) is Barangay Darapuay in the town of Bansalan. During the Darapuay visit three Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) joined the caravan.
Among the SLPAs included Darapuay EO 70 SLP Association, which has 46 members involved in General Merchandise. Another SLPA is the Santisima Tilapia Growers SLP Association, which focuses on Zero Hunger advocacy. Last to be gathered and visited was Mantalaki Farmers SLP Association, which focused on chicken-egg production.
DSWD considered these types of visits as a way to reach far-flung communities and provide the correct information directly to beneficiaries, and stop the spread of misleading information. (PIA/IL)
