CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 2 recently turned over eight infrastructure development projects worth P7.5 million to the Local Government Unit of Cabatuan, Isabela.
The projects are under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program through the Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa barangay Balik Probinsiya Bagong Pag-Asa Program (KKB BP2P) of the department which aims to sustain development and community empowerment in the town.
Regional Director Lucia S. Alan said the projects include the construction of a classroom, drainage canal, daycare center, barangay access road, and provision of medical and emergency response equipment.
“These projects were identified, prioritized, and implemented through a participatory process involving community members to directly address the needs of the communities,” Alan said.
She extended her gratitude to the collaborative efforts of the agency, the LGU, and other sectors as she lauded the community’s participation in the successful implementation of the program.
“These sub-projects are more than just infrastructure, they are the products of community involvement and empowerment. They are the testaments to what can be achieved when community people work together. Community volunteers are directly engaged in the different processes of the program,” Alan said.
Marife P. Lacambra, principal of the school recipient of the Day Care Center, expressed her gratitude to the DSWD and the local government for selecting their school for the project.
Meanwhile, Cabatuan Mayor Bernardo A. Garcia, Jr. underscored the invaluable contributions of social workers in the community for the successful implementation of the projects.
“The job of social workers is very challenging as they are focused on how to change the life of an individual and even the community. Their commitment to improving the life of our residents is commendable,” Garcia said. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
