DSWD-XI steps up assistance for flood victims

DAVAO CITY (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has allocated P23,997,898 in assistance to flood-affected communities in the municipalities of Maco and Davao Occidental, particularly in Malita, Santa Maria, and Don Marcelino.

The support was provided following a request from the Local Government Units (LGUs) of the affected areas, who reported significant damage from the recent flooding.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region XI Focal for Food and Non-Food Item Support Staff Logistics Unit Joel C. Cuensegra, reassured the public that the agency continues to have ample resources for ongoing disaster response efforts. Cuensegra shared that the DSWD still has 121,000 family food packs, valued at 940,215,000, along with 113 million worth of non-food items. These resources are expected to cover the immediate needs of affected families.

“Yung Family Food Packs natin is for 2 to 3 days’ consumption, good for 3 to 5 members of a family.” Cuensegra said.
