DSWD-XI Strengthens Flood Relief Efforts with Cash Assistance and Essential Aid

DAVAO CITY (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region XI Head Hazel Annelou R. Cirunay, clarified that the DSWD is also providing emergency cash transfers to families with damaged homes. This cash assistance is part of the agency’s comprehensive disaster response efforts.

“We have an emergency cash transfer na,” Cirunay said.

She explained that one of the requirements for the cash assistance program is proof of damage to homes or evidence that the families have been directly affected by the flooding. She noted that while this assistance is not considered ayuda, it plays a vital role in helping families recover.

Cirunay further emphasized that the cash assistance is in addition to the family food packs and non-food items that the DSWD is distributing to the affected communities. These combined resources aim to address the immediate needs of families as they begin the process of recovery and rebuilding.

The DSWD’s prompt and coordinated response underscores its commitment to supporting disaster-stricken communities in the Davao Region, providing continuous assistance for affected families. (REC/PIAXI)
