DSWD7 leads inter-agency caravan for street dwellers, IPs in Cebu

CEBU CITY, Cebu, Dec. 22 (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 7 has successfully launched an Inter-Agency Services and Information Caravan for some members of the Children, Families and Indigenous Peoples in Street Situations (CFIPSS) at Hoops Dome, Lapu-lapu City on Dec. 21, 2022.

Around P3.7 million in livelihood and educational assistance was distributed to 500 pre-identified beneficiaries from the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, and Naga in Metro Cebu.

Services such as medical and dental checkup, vaccination, national ID registration, hair grooming, and jobs fair from various national government agencies (NGA) and non-government organizations (NGO) were also provided.

“Ang araw na ito ay simbolo ng pag-asa at pagmamahal ngayong papalapit na kapaskuhan na bunga ng pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan ng mga iba’t ibang sangay ng ating pamahalaan.” said DSWD Usec. Denise Florence Bragas, who read DSWD Sec. Erwin Tulfo’s message during the event.

The caravan, dubbed as “Pangkabuhayan at Pamaskong Handog ng Pangulo at Unang Ginang Marcos at ng Sambayanang Pilipino para sa mga Indigenous Peoples at Children in Street Situations,” is a joint project of the Office of the President and DSWD in response to the directive of the President to bring the government closer to the vulnerable sector.
