ILIGAN CITY (PIA) — Edelyn Dales, a coffee farmer supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Lanao del Norte, won the champion title at the 12th Mindanao Cup Tasters Competition: 4th Elimination Round (Provincial Level) on March 1.
The competition, organized by the Filipino Bar Professionals and Innovators Association, Inc. and the Mindanao Specialty Coffee Community, gathered local farmers, baristas, and coffee enthusiasts to showcase their skills in identifying and appreciating different coffee flavors.
Representing the Somiorang Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multipurpose Cooperative, Dales outperformed 17 other participants to claim the title.
“It’s an incredible honor, and I’m so grateful for all the support from DTI and the coffee community here. This is just the beginning for us — our coffee has so much potential, and I’m proud to show it to the world,” she said.
Amelyne Clamonte of DTI Lanao del Norte praised the local farmers and baristas, stating, “This event is a reminder of the incredible talent and passion we have here in Lanao del Norte. It’s an exciting time for coffee lovers, and we’re thrilled to support their growth,” she said.
