Launched on July 26, 2006, the DTI-Bagwis Program, formerly known as the DTI Certified Business Establishment Program aims to encourage business establishments to set up Consumer Welfare Desks where consumers can access DTI’s services specifically concerning complaints and queries.
The presence of welfare desks reassures the buyers that their rights are protected, and that they can access guidance to make informed decisions.
In a press statement, DTI-Camarines Sur stated that in place of Customer Welfare Desks, establishments can also set up Customer Relations Offices to provide information to customers and buyers.
Other than providing information, the said desks endeavors to serve as a mechanism for the speedy resolution of consumer complaints and immediate response to buyers’ concerns.
The Bagwis Award is valid for three years from the date of conferment and is automatically revalidated through re-assessment by the DTI. This is to ensure that the establishment maintains ethical business undertakings and continues to prioritize consumer rights even after the conferment of the award.
