ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) –The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Capiz, through its Consumer Protection Unit, inspected and accredited 24 service and repair enterprises (SREs) in the province for the month of January.

“DTI-Capiz urges SREs in the province to comply with Presidential Decree 1572 to avoid legal issues and encourages consumers to support accredited establishments for their protection,” Tendras noted.

Of the DTI’s accredited businesses, 20 are engaged in the service and repair of motor vehicles, three in electronics, electrical, air conditioning, and refrigeration, and one in office machines and data processing equipment.

Moreover, 75 percent of these SREs are located in Roxas City, and the remaining 25 percent are based in the towns of Panay, Mambusao, Pilar, and Tapaz.

DTI-Capiz encourages all SREs in the province to apply for or renew their annual accreditation to maintain compliance with industry standards.

The trade department has the mandate, under Presidential Decree 1572, to regulate and oversee SREs in the country, ensuring the public is protected from unethical and incompetent practices in the service and repair sector. (AGP/PLF/PIA Capiz)
