DTI-CHED foster young entrepreneurs thru YEP-Project MARITES

BAGUIO CITY(PIA)—Government agencies are  collaborating to provide avenues for young entrepreneurs in the Cordillera  region to learn valuable business concepts and networks to boost their entrepreneurial journey.

Aiming to foster a vibrant young entrepreneurial community, the Department of Trade Industry-CAR and the  Commission on Higher Education (CHED) UniFAST-CAR kicked  off the collaborative program,  Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP)-Project MARITES (Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees) on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Now in its third year , the YEP-Project MARITES  launching gathered more than 200 young entrepreneurs, youth organizations, and representatives from government agencies via Zoom and Facebook  Live.

The program aims to equip the participants with valuable business skills from industry experts, provide them with networks through experienced mentors, as well as  support and resources they need to kickstart their dream businesses.

The event featured business industry experts Vester Corporation Chief Executive Officer Alexander Bangsoy  who talked on  youth and entrepreneurial mind-setting,  and Fiesta Chills Milk Tea Café CEO Aulivia Ong, aformer YEP beneficiary,  on  youth negosyo goals.

YEP-Project MARITES graduates expressed gratitude for the project and shared testimonials on how the project had helped improved their lives.

More than 200 online participants joined the launching of the Youth Entreneneurship Program(YEP)-Project Project MARITES (Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees) on Tuesday, May 28. This project is a collaborative program of the Department of Trade and Industry-CAR and the Commission on Higher Education to help young individuals in their pursuit to entrepreneurship.

Participants who will qualify  in the YEP-Project MARITES  will undergo series of trainings which include three major components namely; Youth Start, Youth Net, and Youth Match.

The Youth Start will stir the entrepreneurial interest and encourage youth to start and grow their business ventures while the Youth Net will help connect the participants with right networks that will support them in finding resources.

The Youth Match will facilitate the expansion of their operations through enterprise promotion and matching opportunities.

This project is made possible through the memorandum of agreement signed among CHED-UniFAST CAR, DTI-CAR, and the six state universities  and colleges in the region. This encapsulates the absorption of the DTI to the trainees under the Project MARITES, of which, these trainees will adapt modules used in the YEP. (JDP/CVBT-PIA CAR)
