DTI cites priority sectors for industry development

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry identified priority sectors for industry development in the Province of Antique.

DTI Provincial Director Mutya Eusores, during the media conference dubbed “Hinun-anun” held at the ANSTEC building, San Jose, said that the priority sectors for Antique are processed foods and nuts, bamboo, coffee, cacao, muscovado sugar and coco-based products.

Included are also wearables, particularly for locally woven-cloth “patadyong “and other accessories.

DTI also mentioned the priority programs for salt-makers, as the province is known for its traditional salt-making method of solar drying. The Shared Service Facility (SSF) on Salt Production, on the other hand, introduces the open vat cooking of salt.

Senior Trade-Industry Specialist Gevi Kristina S. Villafuerte reported the SSF recently launched for the organizations of the salt makers in Antique located in Belison, Patnongon, Bugasong and Laua-an.

Eusores noted that the Hinun-anun is an event to highlight the celebration of Consumer Welfare Month and as a way to share its accomplishments and efforts to safeguard consumers and support local businesses.

“In this celebration of consumer welfare month, we reaffirm our commitment to upholding the rights of every Antiqueño consumer and continue to strive for a marketplace that is both fair and just,” said Eusores.

Thus, DTI is banking on the support of media partners to spread awareness that consumer protection remains their top priority.
