CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Cagayan Valley seized P46,264 worth of uncertified products during its monitoring and enforcement activity in the province of Quirino from March 25 to 27, 2025.
During the three-day operation, DTI monitoring and enforcement team inspected 81 business establishments and issued a Notice of Violation (NOV) to three for non-compliance with Department Administrative Order (DAO) No. 2, series of 2007, under Republic Act No. 4109, also known as the Product Standards Law.
The violations involved the sale of uncertified products, including electric hot pots, induction cookers, low-carbon steel wires, and lighters, which pose potential risks to consumer safety.
Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Lovell Mark Campania, the team leader, stated that those found in violation of the Product Standards Law will be subject to administrative fines.
“The campaign underscored the importance of adhering to fair trade laws, emphasizing their vital role in upholding ethical business practices and protecting consumer rights,” Campania said.
In addition to its regular monitoring activities, DTI Region 2 also launched an advocacy campaign targeting business establishments in the area.
“By promoting compliance, DTI aims to foster a business environment rooted in integrity, transparency, and consumer trust,” Campania added, reminding business owners to adhere to fair trade laws.
He further emphasized that DTI will continue to be vigilant in protecting consumers from unscrupulous business practices.
The activity was part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with fair trade laws and safeguard consumer welfare. (ALM/TCB/PIA-2, Quirino)
