DTI destroys uncertified products in Isabela

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Isabela has destroyed all confiscated uncertified products accumulated over the last three quarters of 2024.

Regional Director Ma. Sofia Narag underscored the agency’s mandate to enforce product safety regulations and promote consumer welfare through strict monitoring of compliance.

“This disposal activity demonstrates DTI’s commitment to creating a safer market environment by removing non-compliant products from circulation,” Narag said.

She added that the event serves as a reminder of the DTI’s ongoing efforts to safeguard consumers and encourages businesses to adhere to the national standards for product safety.

“This initiative is part of the agency’s broader mission to protect public health and safety, ensuring that only quality-certified products reach the market,” Narag said.

OIC Provincial Director Ramil Garcia also emphasized that DTI is committed to promoting product safety awareness and protecting consumers by eliminating products that do not meet the mandatory Philippine National Standards (PNS).

The destroyed products included a variety of non-compliant electrical and household items, such as flexible cords, electric kettles, electric fans, lighters, electric grills, electric mixers, electric stoves, electric blenders, electric ovens, electric coffee makers, electric irons, rice cookers, induction cookers, motorcycle inner tubes, lead-acid batteries, self-ballasted lamps, and electrical tape.

The destroyed items, valued at P216,129, were seized during enforcement operations conducted in March, May, and August 2024. (MGE/PIA Isabela)
