DTI, DMW capacitate OFWs on entrepreneurial skills

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Region 2 trained fifty returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Isabela on basic entrepreneurial skills.

The OFWs’ training aims to equip the OFWs in managing small businesses to establish their livelihood.

The collaboration between DTI and DMW was made to help returning OFWs as a reintegration effort for them to transition into self-employment and business ventures.

The training also served as a pre-requisite for accessing livelihood assistance under DMW’s reintegration program, equipping participants with essential entrepreneurial skills to build sustainable entrepreneurs in the future.

DTI Isabela Junior Business Counselor Shaina Shields Basilio of Negosyo Center Ilagan City discussed basic entrepreneurship, personal entrepreneurial competency assessment, business planning, and marketing strategies, alongside an overview of DTI’s support programs and services for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Basilio said providing OFWs with fundamental business knowledge and strategies reaffirms the commitment of DTI in its commitment to empowering Filipinos with opportunities for economic stability.

She said the agency continues to offer various training and assistance programs to ensure returning OFWs can successfully reintegrate into the local economy as entrepreneurs. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
