DTI: Government’s aid to local entrepreneurs reaps gains

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The assistance given by the National Government Agencies and the Provincial Local Government Unit to the Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the province continues to uplift their promotion and economic gains.

Atty. Michael Paggabao, Department of Trade and Industry provincial director, said though the return of investment for the province’s  MSMEs does not go back to the NGAs and PLGU, this investment has pushed the overall economic performance of  Nueva Vizcaya in general.

The Philippine Statistics Authority’s 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 2023 showed that Nueva Vizcaya recorded the fastest growth in Gross Value Added (GVA) of Industry at 27.3 percent in 2022 among other pilot provinces and HUCs outside National Capital Region.

GVA is defined as the value of output less the value of intermediate consumption.

“Our investments in our MSMEs have boosted the agricultural trade and eco-tourism potentials of the province. The quality of our MSMEs’ products got orders from local and international markets. These have contributed a lot to the income of our MSMEs,” he said.

Paggabao said more than 50 MSMEs in the province are now participating in various trade fairs in the country to promote and sell their quality products.

He said while a 5-year lull was felt for MSMEs external promotions and sales due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, their participation in the recent  Nueva Vizcaya goes to Alabang Trade Fair in Metro Manila enabled the participants to rake in  ₱𝟭𝟭,𝟴𝟮𝟬,𝟴𝟬𝟯 in sales.

The trade fair is the flagship marketing initiative of the Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya through the Provincial Cooperative Enterprise and Development Office, the Provincial Tourism and Culture Office, and the DTI.

The trade fair held from 28 September to 06 October 2024 with the theme: “Trade Fair ti Umili: Appreciate Unique Traditions, Heritage, Entrepreneurship, Natural Wonders, Talents, Indigenous Crafts, and Cultural Diversity (AUTHENTIC) – Nueva Vizcaya” was joined by  42 MSMEs, farmers, and industry players in showcasing their products and in connecting with consumers and institutional buyers.

Paggabao said the sales generated by the exhibitors reached ₱2,906,610 for booked, ₱5,012,993 for cash sales, and ₱3,901,200 for under-negotiation.

The institutional buyers were R.Rodriguez Non-Specialized Wholesale Trading, Agro-Digital PH, Robinsons Supermarket, New Lounge, S&R Shopping, Great Wall Arts, Gacho Furniture Trading, Discovery Tea Craft Inc., Dally Company, Deliver-E, Rural Rising PH, Fortuna Foods Manufacturing, Las Piñas B. Resort, Green Woods Home Furniture Enterprises, and Coffee Corner.

DTI report said the highest sales were recorded by the Fresh Produce and Furniture sectors, particularly NVAT Fresh, JLS Furniture, and Four H Handicrafts.

“This year’s success is not just about the numbers—it’s a symbol of revival and resilience for Nueva Vizcaya’s MSMEs and local industries, whose perseverance and creativity shone throughout the event,” Paggabao said.

He said the overwhelming response from buyers, traders, and visitors reaffirms the growing demand for local products.

“It proves the readiness of Nueva Vizcaya’s industries to thrive not only on a national stage but even internationally,” Paggabao said. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
