SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Antique Provincial Office conducted an advocacy session on mandatory product certification recently at the Negosyo Center Culasi, Centro Poblacion, Culasi, Antique.
Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Arnel Oliveros said that the session aimed to raise awareness about the importance of certification for steel and other regulated products to ensure consumer safety and promote quality compliance across the province.
“Selling these products comes with the responsibility of ensuring that they are certified,” said Oliveros, emphasizing the accountability of retailers in complying with product standards.
The event was attended by store owners and representatives from hardware and construction supply businesses, electrical and wiring device outlets, home appliance sellers, and other firms engaged in the sale of regulated products.
Participants came from the northern municipalities of Antique including Libertad, Pandan, Sebaste, Tibiao, and Culasi—demonstrating strong support for product safety and quality initiatives.
Topics discussed include the list of products under mandatory certification; proper markings and color coding, particularly for steel products; embossed technical specifications; and the required compliance documents from suppliers or manufacturers.
Participants also learned how to verify the authenticity of Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers using DTI’s ICC Sticker Verification System, which helps prevent the circulation of substandard and uncertified products. (AGP/PSM/PIA Antique with reports from AO/DTI)
