DTI imposes price freeze in NCR, other areas under state of calamity

PASIG CITY, (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) imposes a price freeze on basic necessities in areas affected by the recent effects of Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.

In an advisory, the price freeze is imposed in Metro Manila, Batangas, in Cainta, Rizal, Cavite, Pinamalayan in Oriental Mindoro, Bataan, and Bulacan.

According to DTI, based on Section 6 of the Republic Act 7581 or the Price Act, prices in an area or under a state of calamity or under an emergency shall be automatically frozen at their prevailing prices under automatic price control for 60 days unless sooner lifted.
