ILAGAN CITY, Isabela(PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela, through its Santiago City Satellite Office, has introduced a digital payment system to market vendors here.
The digital cash payment system aims to modernize local commerce and speed up transactions between the consumer and seller in compliance with the Ease of Doing Business Act.
DTI Isabela Trade and Industry Specialist Mel Mari Laciste said DTI’s ongoing effort to promote digital payments is expected to increase sales, provide security against counterfeit money, and offer a more streamlined transaction process.
He said they first asked market vendors about the viability of the project and how to implement the cashless program in the public market.
“One of the key concerns raised by participants included the need for improved internet connectivity and additional training sessions to help vendors, particularly those who are not tech-savvy, navigate digital payment systems more efficiently,” Laciste said.
He said the 50 vendors have acquired the necessary knowledge of digital payment systems through the PalengQR Program.
“This initiative aims to further integrate digital payment solutions into the local market’s daily operations,” Laciste said.
The event was also attended by City Market Administrator Myra Grace Pascual, KAPWA Santiago City Vice President Mr. Epraim Abat, and Technical Assistant Don Sergs Laureta from the DTI Santiago City Satellite Office.
