CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)- – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Cabarroguis recently launched the Consumer Welfare Assistance Center (CWAC) at the town’s Public Market in Gundaway.
According to Alyssa Maranion, DTI Quirino information officer, the newly launched CWAC, now the fifth in the province, will support the town’s commitment to upholding consumer rights and ensuring the welfare of its citizens.
“We will be launching the sixth one as soon as the Nagtipunan Public Market opens, to complete the CWACs in the province,” Maranion said.
Maranion further said the initiative marked the strong collaboration between DTI and LGU-Cabarroguis in upholding consumer protection in the community adding that through the establishment of the CWAC Cabarroguis, DTI will be able to bring its services closer to the people.
During the event, Atty. Cyrus Restauro, DTI Batanes OIC Provincial Director, discussed the benefits consumers may gain from the initiative and the accessibility of resolving complaints and concerns at the center.
The ceremonial installation of the “Timbangan ng Bayan” was also held to ensure accurate, fair, and transparent measurements and protection from deceptive and unfair sales practices within the marketplace.
The events were attended by DTI R2 Regional Director Ma. Sofia Narag, Vice Governor Julius Ceasar Vaquilar, Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Magdalina Saladino, Provincial Administrator Carmelita Jimenez, Mayor Avelino Agustin Jr., DTI Quirino Provincial Director Mary Ann Corpuz – Dy, DTI Batanes OIC Provincial Director Atty.
