CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela has connected ube growers from Jones town with an ube processor from Cauayan City to create a sustainable production and ensure market opportunity for the local crop in Isabela.
Through its Negosyo Center, the DTI facilitated a productive marketing match between the ube (purple yam) growers and Wall’s Delicacies, a local business based in Cauayan City. Wall’s Delicacies specializes in processing root crops into sweet delicacies.
Jezreel Manalo, junior business counselor for DTI Isabela, said the partnership between the two entities is aimed at strengthening local agricultural trade while ensuring a steady supply of high-quality purple yam.
“This collaboration ensures a sustainable source of premium ube, a key ingredient in the company’s ube-based products. In return, the ube growers gain a reliable market for their produce, with an estimated 300 kilograms of ube expected to be sold monthly,” Manuel said.
She also mentioned that Wall’s Delicacies plans to expand by opening a new branch in Santiago City later this month, allowing more food lovers to enjoy its signature flavors.
“The partnership between the business and local farmers supports DTI Isabela’s continuous efforts to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by creating strong business linkages,” Manuel added.
With the growing demand for ube-based products, the successful market match not only benefits entrepreneurs but also supports local farmers, ensuring that Isabela’s agricultural products continue to thrive in the market. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
