MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Occidental joined the Department of Agriculture and other government line agencies in a workshop to formulate the Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Investment and Development Plan (PAFID) as a way to strengthen the raw material supply base for agri-preneurs and to confidently respond to global market opportunities.
The two-day activity is the fourth round of consultation following a series of regional and provincial consultations in Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte.The workshop aims to harmonize the stakeholder plans and initiatives toward the common goal of increasing inward investments in the agriculture and fishery sectors.
During her presentation of DTI Programs and Services, DTI Misamis Occidental Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist, Margie G. Baldezamo, emphasized the strategic role of DTI’s Industry Cluster Enhancement Program towards developing globally competitive MSMEs in the agriculture, fishery, and manufacturing sectors.
Furthermore, Baldezamo shed light on DTI’s Shared Service Facilities (SSF) Program aimed at boosting MSME productivity and efficiency through improved access to technology.
The Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Investment and Development Plan Workshop resulted in a draft provincial plan that will serve as a reference for the crafting of municipal and city-level investment plans by respective local government participants.
The participants also expressed their hope that the workshop would result in targeted interventions that could boost agricultural productivity, improve access to affordable nutritious food, and create an environment that attracts investment in the agriculture and fishery sectors.
Representatives from national government agencies as well as municipal and city agriculture officers from the provinces of Misamis Occidental and Camiguin attended the workshop.
