SAGADA, Mountain Province (PIA)–The Department of Trade and Industry recently turned over livelihood kits to 13 beneficiaries of the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) Program at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in this town.
Beneficiaries included seven rebel returnees, five other individuals under the identified ELCAC or conflict-affected and vulnerable barangays of Sagada and Besao, and family members of one Wounded in Action/Killed in Action.
DTI-Mountain Province Provincial Director Mabel F. Banggawan shared that the PPG will help the beneficiaries establish their own business. The varied kits contain mowers, fertilizers, pruning shears, sprayers and chicken nets based from the assessed needs of the beneficiaries.
She also emphasized how the DTI helps in helping them to start their business.
“Instead of looking for job order positions, we will help you in starting your livelihood projects like agriculture, processing and services. While the LGU helps you in production, in the processing, DTI helps by providing entrepreneurial skills training” she said.
Executive Assistant to the Governor June C. Pinayacan challenged the beneficiaries to work hard to make the livelihood kits productive.
2Lt Heherson N. Bides of the Charlie Company, 69th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army also expressed support to the programs of other government agencies by providing assistance like mobility and manpower.
