
PIDIGAN, Abra(PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in collaboration with Abra Diocesan Teachers and Employees Cooperative (ADTEMPCO) officially opened the One-Town, One-Product (OTOP) store located at Galicia, Monggoc, Pidigan, Abra. This is the very first OTOP here in the province.
This OTOP hub houses the different products of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province for visitors and tourists to buy and enjoy.
The launching ceremony was led by DTI-Cordillera Director Juliet P. Lucas, ADTEMPCO Chief Executive Officer Irene Bringas, DTI-Abra staff led by Provincial Director Marvin Arcangel, and personnel of the Mt. Carmel Training Center.
Aside from the OTOP Hub, an OTOP Nook was also opened at the Casarap Cafe in the same area. The OTOP nook is a pasalubong corner where MSME products are displayed in a shelf.
Lucas lauded the MSMEs in Abra who are actively producing authentic and unique products that represent the province.
“These products are special in your province, and these identified products are popular among other areas also. So, this OTOP hub is where they can experience the authentic products of Abra,” Lucas said.
Bringas acknowledged the DTI in the establishment of the OTOP hub. Their counterpart is provision of building for the hub.
“Sapay kuma ta agbalin nga sustainable daytoy nga OTOP hub a nu sadino ditoy tayo pangipanan dagiti produkto ti MSMEs tayo”, Bringas stated.
[I hope that this OTOP hub will become sustainable since this is where we bring the products of our MSMEs.]
Imelda Valera, one of the MSME exhibitors, thanked the DTI for the opportunity given to them, in allowing them to bring their products to mainstream market.
“In behalf of all the MSMEs of Abra, I would like to thank everyone for the establishment of OTOP hub in the province. It’s a big opportunity for us,MSMEs, to be put in spotlight,” he said.
For this month of May, DTI-Cordillera is set to open additional Negosyo Centers in Dolores, Sallapadan and Tineg, which will further strengthen entrepreneurial development among local communities. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
