DTI orients Abrenian MSMEs on PH Creative Industry Dev’t Law

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the province of Abra learned more about Republic Act No. 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act in an orientation facilitated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Under this law, MSMEs can have potential for development, employment, and economic growth while promoting Filipino creativity.

MSMEs from the coffee, bamboo, and loom weaving industries in Abra are among the identified sectors under the design category.

DTI-Abra Senior Trade and Industry Concesa Abella explained that this initiative recognizes the importance of the creative industry sector in driving economic growth and local development.

She explained that there are several categories where creative enterprises may fit.

“Nu kitentayo dagitoy na-mention nga domain ti creative industries, kaaduan na kadakayo amin nga MSME ditoy Abra, ket ag-fall under design domain. Adda pay other domains like audio visual, digital interactive, performing arts, visual arts and other,” she explained.

[If we look at the mentioned domain under creative industries, most of our MSMEs here in Abra fall under the Design Domain. Aside from that there’s also audio visual, digital interactive, performing arts, visual arts and other domains.]

Talledo assured that with this new law, enterprises in Abra can receive government assistance, incentives and financial mechanisms to boost their creative production.

DTI-Abra Provincial Director Marvin Arcangel is calling all individuals, groups and other business who are operating under the creative industry sector to visit DTI’s office so they can be profiled. (JDP/CAGT-PIA CAR, Abra)
