DTI promotes consumer awareness, responsiveness in Tarlac City

TARLAC CITY (PIA) — A total of 50 residents of Barangay Matatalaib in Tarlac City have undergone an education seminar on Consumer Awareness and Responsiveness.

Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Tarlac Consumers Council Inc., it aims to empower the participants about their rights and responsibilities as consumers.

DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo said that the agency is molding residents to become force multipliers in heightening awareness on consumer protection.

“The goal of DTI is for consumers to be well-informed, vigilant and empowered. This seminar is designed to educate the participants on their rights and responsibilities as consumers,” she added.

Balilo also urged them to be discerning and critical when purchasing goods and services.

Topics discussed were No Return No Exchange Policy, Price Act, No Shortchanging Act, and the Eight Consumer Rights. The participants were likewise oriented on the five consumer responsibilities, and the role of consumer organizations in consumer protection. (CLJD/TJBM PIA Region 3- Tarlac)
