DTI provides Isabela meat vendors with processing facility

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cabagan, has provided the Cabagan Meat Vendors and Butchers Association with a Shared Service Facility (SSF) worth P540,000.

DTI Region 2 Director Ma. Sofia Narag said the new meat processing facility is a significant step forward in strengthening the local economy and supporting the government’s food security program under the current administration.

She explained that the program is designed to enhance productivity, improve product quality, and expand market opportunities.

She said the facility also provides local farmers and meat processors with access to modern equipment, helping them process and market their products more efficiently.

“This initiative not only strengthens the local supply chain but also encourages the consumption of locally sourced goods, benefiting residents and supporting the government’s efforts to ensure food security for Filipinos,” Narag said.

Cabagan Mayor Christopher Mamauag emphasized that the SSF will also serve as a platform for training and skills development, ensuring local entrepreneurs and workers can fully leverage the benefits of the new facility.

Mamauag expressed optimism about the project’s long-term impact, highlighting the importance of government-private sector collaboration in driving economic development.

He believes the SSF will boost the town’s economy and increase the income of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.

The mayor also praised DTI’s initiative to provide SSFs to associations and organizations, which will enhance local production and expand marketing opportunities. (OTBV/MGE/PIA Isabela)
