MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Task Force Kalasag, seized uncertified products worth P815,605 in a provincewide technical regulation enforcement operations on November 28, 2024.
DTI teams conducted simultaneous inspections in Valencia City, Malaybalay City, and Maramag municipality, confiscating 8,950 uncertified items from 38 businesses.
The seized products included household appliances, lighting and wiring devices, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) regulators, plywood, and low-carbon steel wires.
DTI issued Notices of Violation to non-compliant businesses for violating Republic Act No. 4109 (Product Standards Law) and DTI Department Administrative Order No. 02, series of 2007. These regulations mandate that only certified products meeting Philippine standards are allowed for sale.
“DTI enforces the sale of certified products, promoting fair trade for entrepreneurs and consumers,” said Famelah Racquel D. Villanueva, provincial director of DTI-Bukidnon.
She emphasized that these initiatives aim to protect the public and support legitimate businesses without disrupting operations.
Junar B. Merla, Chief of DTI-Bukidnon’s Consumer Protection Division, participated in the enforcement activities and reinforced the agency’s commitment to consumer safety.
“This operation serves as a stern warning to violators. DTI remains dedicated to safeguarding consumers from unsafe and low-quality products while supporting compliant businesses,” he stated.
