DTI showcases Ilocos Region’s potential in investment forum

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) showcases the wide array of investment potentials of the Ilocos Region during the Region 1 Investment Forum at the Crimson Hotel in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, on December 3, 2024.

DTI-Ilocos Assistant Regional Director Merlie Membrere said the forum serves as an avenue to exhibit the investable areas, services, and other potentials of the four provinces of the Ilocos Region among investors and developers.

The governors of the provinces of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Ilocos Norte are expected to pitch the assets of their respective provinces during the forum.

“Who else can present and promote the provinces better than the governors themselves, who know the business environment and advantages in their areas?” Membrere said in an interview with the Philippine Information Agency.

Identified focus centers are on agriculture, agri-business, and fisheries, as well as tourism, eco-tourism, hospitality, and infrastructure and property development.

Membrere cited as an example that investors or developers may invest in post-harvest activities; agriculture and food processing, manufacturing, packaging, and warehousing; product warehousing and transporting; food storage; irrigation; high-value crops; and in farm development.

Also, Membrere noted how vital investments are in the goal of putting the Ilocos Region on the radar of economic development.

“If more businesses will invest in the region, it will generate more jobs for our locals,” she said.

She added, “It will alleviate the poverty level of the region, and it will mean that locals will no longer have to work away from home and their families.”

DTI, in close coordination with the Philippine Board of Investments, invited investors and developers to join the activity.

By participating in this event, investors can gain valuable insights into the region’s investment landscape, network with key stakeholders, and explore potential partnerships. (AMB/CGCC/PIA Region 1)
