VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) – Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ilocos Sur received valuable training on digital tools, artificial intelligence (AI), and financial resources to help them adapt to the digital age.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a seminar titled “Elevating Your Business” on April 15 at the Civic Center in Poblacion Norte, Burgos, aiming to help MSMEs thrive in a competitive and fast-changing digital market.
In a radio interview on April 21, DTI Ilocos Sur provincial director H.A. Zaldy Z. Zafra, Jr. emphasized the agency’s ongoing commitment to helping local businesses embrace digital transformation.
“This is the latest in our series of digitalization training sessions to upskill our MSMEs and encourage them to adapt to current business trends,” he said.
During the seminar, DTI trade-industry development analyst Arcel Mae Gadia introduced various AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Canva, and others. She showed how these can improve marketing strategies, simplify operations, and boost productivity.
Jennifer J. Torres, DTI 1 senior provincial coordinator, discussed the loan assistance programs offered by the Small Business Corporation (SBCorp) and gave step-by-step advice on how MSMEs can apply for financial support to expand or recover their businesses.
To help entrepreneurs stay safe online, the training also included tips on identifying and avoiding scams, reducing the risk of financial loss.
Anabelle Polanco, DTI 1 supervising trade-industry development specialist, highlighted the importance of ethical business. She explained consumer rights and responsibilities, and emphasized how ethical practices help build long-term customer trust.
One of the participants, Leah R. Camading, owner of Belleah and Kristel’s Kitchenette in Barangay Mambug, Burgos, shared how the training inspired her to expand her online presence.
“I’m thankful to DTI for the support they provide. These training sessions are important for business growth,” she said.
