DTI’s Pamilihang Magiliw 2023 searches for the best market in Oriental Mindoro

CITY OF CALAPAN, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The competition for the title of Oriental Mindoro’s Pamilihang Magiliw 2023 recently commenced, with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Oriental Mindoro as its lead. The competition is set to be a thrilling affair, celebrating the authenticity and unique character of each market. It will be judged on various criteria, including the variety and quality of products, hygiene and cleanliness, accessibility, the and other factors that affect the overall consumers’ experience.

Part of the screening process for the said competition is the judging for Fair Trade and Consumer-Related Laws, Customer relations and Services, Public Market Management and Operation, and Consumer Advocacy Initiatives.

According to DTI Oriental Mindoro Trade and Industry Development Specialist Marvin L. Macalalad the competition does not only identify the best market in Oriental Mindoro but also serve as a catalyst for positive change. It encourages markets to continually improve their services, engage with the community, and uphold the values that make them exceptional.

Apart from the Pamilihang Magiliw 2023, DTI, along with the evaluation committee, interviewed select market vendors in the different municipalities of the province that will be hailed the Bidang Manininda 2023 awardee. Some of the criteria sought by the evaluators are compliance to Applicable Fair Trade and Consumer-related Laws, Customer Relations and Services, Store Management and Operations, at Socially Committed and Responsible Business.

The evaluation committee is composed of members from the DTI Oriental Mindoro and Mimaropa; Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Oriental Mindoro, Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro, Department of Agriculture (DA), and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The final evaluation will be on October 18 for the municipalities of Puerto Galera, San Teodoro and Baco. This will be followed by the finalization and submission of scores in the afternoon. The awarding ceremony will on October 26, 2023. (JJGS/PIA Oriental Mindoro)
