DTI’s Search for Outstanding Public Market on

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – MIMAROPA has initiated the search for the most outstanding public markets in the region’s five provinces.

This initiative is part of the Pamilihang Bayan ng Bidang Mamimili (PBBM), an advocacy program to recognize exemplary public markets in the region.

The PBBM, a pet project of DTI Oriental Mindoro, has been extended to other provinces in MIMAROPA, namely Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan..

The criteria for identifying the most outstanding public markets include compliance with various trade laws enforced by the government, such as providing discounts to senior citizens, refraining from selling non-compliant products, and ensuring all items for sale have proper price tags.

The regional winner of the search will receive P1 million worth of projects from the department.

In Romblon, aside from identifying the most outstanding public market, DTI Romblon will also recognize the consumer-friendly market vendors.

In July, DTI Romblon Provincial Director Orville Mallorca said that this initiative highlights the DTI’s commitment to promoting fair trade practices and supporting consumer rights throughout the region. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
