The Mediatrix Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) Wearables and Homestyle Production Center lauded the Shared Service Facilities (SSF) project of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as it continuously makes a significant contribution to the growth and development of micro, small, and medium enterprises, or MSMEs, in Cotabato Province.
DTI-Cotabato reported 34 successful SSF projects in the province, with Mediatrix Multi-Purpose Cooperative Wearables and Homestyle Production Center being the most successful cooperators.
Established in 2017, the production center aims to meet the cooperative’s requirements by producing in-house customized goods.
The facility sought assistance from the DTI to overcome challenges in equipment and marketing.
“Dahil naa mi gap sa mga machine, naisipan namo na magpatabang sa DTI, so ang DTI wala jud sila nagdalawang-isip na magtabang sa amoa,” Maria Ediza, designated tailoring in-charge, said.
(Because we had a gap with the machines, we decided to ask for help from DTI, who didn’t hesitate to help us.)
The DTI provided assistance through its SSF project in 2020, which involved the transfer of machines and equipment to the facility.
Ediza disclosed that the assistance included an embroidery machine, a single high-speed sewing machine, a piping machine, a computer set, and printers.
In addition, the DTI conducted training and seminars, focusing on green economic development, which included digital manufacturing, lean management, and production, process innovation, and capacity development.
She noted that DTI’s technological support and manpower development led to the establishment’s improved market and product quality.
Consequently, Mediatrix MPC’s assets increased to P3,023,952 in 2024, with a net surplus of P518,323, a net worth of P2,551,565, and a 17 percent asset turnover.
Ediza described the improvement as a “game changer,” not only helping the production center purchase additional equipment but also providing livelihood opportunities to residents.
In 2024, the Mediatrix Multi-Purpose Cooperative Wearables and Homestyle Production Center was named the Most Outstanding SSF Green Economic Development Implementor in Region 12.
Cynthia G. Marcelo, DTI-Cotabato’s SSF focal person, said: “The Shared Service Facilities project, or SSF, initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry, began its implementation in 2013 as a pioneering strategy to address the innovation gaps of our micro, small, and medium enterprises, or MSMEs.” (SJDM – PIA Cotabato Province)
