DUMINGAG, Zamboanga del Sur (PIA) – The local government unit of Dumingag, through its Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), distributed P60,000 in cash assistance to agriculture students of Josefina H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) – Dumingag Campus to support their thesis projects.

Of the 27 proposals presented, six groups were chosen as beneficiaries of the initiative, which aims to help students overcome financial hurdles in conducting research that benefits the local community.
Bea, one of the recipients, emphasized how the assistance eased their financial burden.
“Kini isa pud ni ka dakong tabang sa amoa kay magamay-gamayan pud among gasto sa amoang pagpalibro,” she shared.
(This is a big help for us because it lessens our expenses, especially for bookbinding.)
Jawid, a resident of Dumingag town, expressed his appreciation to the LGU for supporting the students.
“Ang cash assistance nga gi-apud-apud alang sa pipila ka estudyante sa kursong agriculture dako kaayong tabang ug makalipay alang sa atong mga kabataan sa Dumingag, ilabina kay kasagaran kanila gikan sa nagkalain-lain lagyo nga barangay sakop sa Dumingag,” he said.
(The cash assistance distributed to some agriculture students is a huge help and a source of joy for our youth in Dumingag, especially since most of them come from far-flung barangays within the municipality.)

Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman Fidel Udtohan voiced his hope for the program’s sustainability.
“Maayo gyud ni nga ipadayon kay daghang estudyanteng matabangan kay dili biya tanan aduna gyud kaya,” he stated.
(This is a good program that should continue because it helps many students, especially those who are financially challenged.)
“Among gihimo, nag critique gyud mi sa ilahang thesis. Ilang thesis ba kanang adaptive sa community nga pwede gyud natong mapahimuslan,” said Myrnalina S. Adrias, municipal agriculturist, explaining the process behind the selection of beneficiaries.
(What we did was thoroughly critique their thesis. We looked for studies that are adaptive to the community and can be effectively utilized.)
She expressed gratitude to the LGU for approving the program, saying, “Hopefully by next year, mapadayon nato ni nga programa, in favor sa mga estudyante ilabina pa gyud nga nanginahanglan pa gyud sila ug cash assistance kay expensive ang ilang thesis.”
(Hopefully, by next year, we can continue this program to support students who are in great need of financial assistance due to the high cost of their thesis.)
The LGU plans to sustain this program to support the education and research of future agriculture practitioners, fostering innovations that contribute to the municipality’s agricultural development. (EDT/HTB/PIA9-Zamboanga del Sur/with reports from IGMAT Dumingag)
