DUMINGAG, Zamboanga del Sur (PIA) – The local government unit (LGU) of Dumingag recently turned over a five-classroom building to Dumingag National High School, marking another milestone in its commitment to education. This is the second makeshift classroom provided to the school, with a total project cost of P1.3 million.

The new facility will provide a better learning environment, particularly for Grade 10 students who have been using the town’s grandstand as a temporary classroom. The school community expressed gratitude for the much-needed infrastructure, recognizing its positive impact on students’ education.
Dumingag NHS Principal Dr. Joseph Beloy extended his appreciation to the LGU and the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), emphasizing that the building represents more than just a physical structure.
“We express our sincerest gratitude for this make-shift building, a testament to the unwavering support of the LGU and PTA. This structure is more than just walls and rooms; it is a symbol of hope for all Dumingagnons,” he said.
Beloy assured that the school will take good care of the new classrooms and continue to improve them to create a more conducive learning environment.

A blessing ceremony, officiated by the town’s parish priest, was held to mark the building’s completion. Teachers and students attended the event, expressing their excitement and appreciation for the additional learning space.
Meanwhile, Municipal Planning and Development Officer Al Rey Estillero shared that the LGU has allocated a supplemental budget for installing jalousie blades in the classrooms.
“When we collaborate, we [get] lots of things done,” Estillero said, as he highlighted the importance of community support in advancing education.
The LGU reiterated its commitment to fostering cooperation and unity, emphasizing its dedication to sustaining educational development in the municipality. It also encouraged stakeholders to continue working together to ensure that every student has access to quality education and better learning facilities.
