MANILA (PIA) — Securing financial aid, reporting abuses, and enrolling in government programs need not be tedious for modern-day heroes, says the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), which introduced a mobile app primarily designed to cater to the needs of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
In a statement, OWWA cited the need to provide OFWs and their families with a convenient platform to access the agency’s services.
Dubbed the OWWA Mobile App, the digital platform also enables OFWs to stay connected, renew their membership, pay a biannual fee ($25 or its equivalent to the local currency), and avail themselves of OWWA services without the agony of traveling far.
“Becoming an OWWA member provides OFWs and their families access to financial aid, training, and repatriation and reintegration programs,” reads part of the statement.
Just like in any other legitimate act, OFWs are required to undergo a simple verification process to register, providing their full name, email address, contact number, and birthdate. To avoid processing errors, OWWA urged enrollees to provide complete details, including name extensions.
“If your details include the letter ‘ñ,’ replace it with ‘n’ to avoid errors during processing,” the agency noted. “If you don’t have specific information for any fields, simply leave them blank, and make sure your birthdate is entered in the month/date/year format.”
After successfully verifying their account, OFWs will receive a notification and an email containing their username and password for log-in purposes.
Through the app, OFWs can access their profiles, employment track record, OWWA membership status, payment system, beneficiary data, and information on the agency’s various programs and services, as well as the directory of OWWA’s local and overseas offices.
The introduction of the OWWA Mobile App is part of the agency’s efforts to enhance its services and make them more accessible to the millions of OFWs around the world.
