QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — To further boost healthcare services in Metro Manila, the Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) constructs the six story East Avenue Medical Center Multipurpose Building in Quezon City.
According to DPWH-NCR, the construction of the new building addresses critical healthcare challenges observed during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has exposed long-standing shortage of medical facilities.
This project started under the Build Better More program of the Marcos administration, spearheaded by Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan will reduce patient queues, while bringing advanced, and specialized medical services closer to the public.
DPWH-NCR Regional Director Loreta M. Malaluan added that the completion of the East Avenue Medical Center Extension Building will strengthen the hospital’s capacity to treat various medical illnesses, by providing more specialized facilities for medical workers, and adding more hospital beds for its patients.
The first phase of this project involves construction of a six-story multi-purpose building as an extension to the existing center, seen to enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide outpatient, inpatient, and emergency medical care.
Completion rate for the first phase of the project with a budget of over P96 million is now over 30%. Likewise, the DPWH-NCR added that the start of the second phase of the project with a budget of over P95 million, is a significant leap ahead of the schedule. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
