This recognition was formally conferred during a ceremony held at Teatro Ibabawnon, ESSU Main Campus in Borongan City. The trophy, which symbolizes proficiency in quality management, was personally handed over by DTI-8 Regional Director Celerina Bato to ESSU President Andres Pagatpatan Jr.

In her message, Bato emphasized the PQA’s status as the highest distinction in the country, recognizing exemplary performance excellence in both government and private organizations.

The PQA, institutionalized through Republic Act No. 9013, reflects a commitment to fostering a culture of quality and excellence.

Bato also spoke about the decentralization of PQA through DTI Department Order 22-12 and the PQA Decentralization Program, which aims to promote performance excellence at the regional level, encouraging Philippine organizations to strive for world-class performance.

ESSU’s achievement of Level 2 Proficiency Quality Management under this regionalization program marks a significant accomplishment. Bato’s encouragement for ESSU to aim for Level 4, skipping Level 3, showcases the high standards and aspirations set by the university.

Pagatpatan, in his message, expressed gratitude for the dedication and commitment of the PQA champions and support teams who contributed to ESSU’s success. He underscored the university’s collective efforts to provide top-quality education and the recognition’s reflection of those efforts.

Various officials, including Gov. Ben Evardone and representatives from different sectors, extended their congratulations, recognizing ESSU’s impact on providing quality education and emphasizing collaboration and unity as key elements in achieving excellence.

The conferment ceremony concluded with the awarding of certificates of recognition to members of the PQA support team, further acknowledging their vital role in ESSU’s journey towards excellence. (SDC, PIA Eastern Samar with Jestoni Caranzo/ESSU Intern)
