ILOILO CITY (PIA) — The launching of the eGovPH application and eLGU program streamlines the government’s efforts to improve services on the digital platform, making transactions easier and available at one’s fingertips.
Director June Vincent Manuel Gaudan of the Department of Information and Communications Technology Government Digital Transformation Bureau cited the whole-of-government approach used in the digital platform and likened it to a one-stop shop.
“Lahat ng mga pinakitang systems nilagay sa isang app. So different man ang mga modules, may e-Verify, National ID, PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig, pero at the end of the day, this is a whole of government approach na para kang pumunta sa isang munisipyo at mayroong one-stop-shop,” Gaudan said.
(Translation: All of the systems presented were placed in one app. So whether there are different modules like e-Verify, National ID, PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig, at the end of the day, this is a whole of government approach wherein you just went to a municipal hall and then there’s a one-stop-shop.)
Gaudan narrated how the eGovPH app offers convenience, particularly in easing the burden of standing in line during physical transactions and saving time lost to traffic.
Among the features of the app are PhilSys ID, eNGA, eLGU, eReport, tourism, health, agriculture, startup, jobs, travel and SIM card registration.
“Initiatives such as these will definitely help Iloilo because you are still soaring up high. I hope and pray that the local government units here in Iloilo would not just think about the infrastructure but they would also put something in the plan, together with the infrastructure, their digital roadmap kasi importante ‘yan,” he shared.
Director Gaudan further emphasized that the Department of Information and Communications Technology is not mandated to collect additional fees for using the eGovPH app and its transaction features, based on Republic Act 10844, the Department of Information and Communications Technology Act of 2015.
Also, upon the implementation of eGovPay in all government payment channels, it unifies and standardizes payment processes with reasonable fees.
“Since the Department of Information and Communications Technology is not collecting anything, therefore, the transaction fees will be average and at the same time, it will be more seamless,” Gaudan shared. (AAL/LMLE/PIA Iloilo)
