SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) assured that the preparations for the May 12 elections are implemented on schedule based on guidelines.
COMELEC Acting Assistant Regional Director and concurrent Antique Provincial Election Supervisor Wil Arceño said that the roadshow for the Automated Counting Machine (ACM) is ongoing in all municipalities and barangays in the province until Jan. 30, 2025.
Each municipality was designated one ACM for the roadshow.
He also shared the scheduled examination for machine technicians next week who will take charge of troubleshooting during election day.
The selected technicians, he emphasized, should be coming from Antique, and are to be trained by COMELEC on the operations of the automated counting machine.
The training for COMELEC officials and election officers is scheduled for February, while the training for the electoral board is set for March.
COMELEC is also checking on the situations in geographically-isolated areas including the internet connections so other options could be done to ensure voting will be accomplished on time.
Arceño also noted the possible utilization of communication satellites in areas without internet connections to ensure the results will be submitted promptly.
On the implementation of the checkpoints, he emphasized that the election gun ban will be strictly implemented.
As of Jan. 16, Antique has so far, no record of gun ban violations netted in checkpoints.
COMELEC also lauded the support of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, Coast Guard, and other government authorities who are closely in coordination with the Commission to ensure the election period is peaceful and orderly. (AGP/PSM/PIA-Antique)
