Gavina P. Doblon, a senior citizen and entrepreneur from Brgy. Botaera Zumarraga, Samar, faces life with unwavering determination. She understands her truth: self-care is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. To care for others, we must first nurture ourselves.

Amidst the bustling energy of the 2025 Women’s Summit, organized by the Department of Trade and Industry Samar, she seizes the opportunity. Free haircut. Manicure. Pedicure. Each service is a celebration of her worth.

“Us women, kailangan mahalin mo ‘yung sarili mo bago ang lahat. Kung mahal mo ‘yung pamilya mo, mas mahalin mo muna yung sarili mo. Panu mo mamahalin yung iba kung ang sarili mo hindi mo mahal?,” she expressed.

(Us women, you need to love yourself first, above all else. If you love your family, love yourself even more first. How can you love others if you don’t love yourself?)

Other services available at the event include job opportunities, skills training, entrepreneurial development training, and free personality enhancement services for all women.

Attendees will also have the chance to explore local delicacies and handicrafts, engage in seed distribution, and join a forum for further discussion and networking.

This event aims to create a memorable and impactful experience for all women and individuals of all genders, as highlighted by the feedback from attendees, including Doblon.

“Maraming salamat sa Department of Trade and Industry at provincial government of Samar sa pagkakaroon ng ganitong event, hindi lang sa [pagsasagawa ng] trade fair, pagbibigay din ng serbisyo para sa mga kababaihan as a regalo sa Women’s Month celebration,” she added.

(Many thanks to the Department of Trade and Industry and the provincial government of Samar for organizing this event—not only for holding a trade fair but also for providing services for women as a gift for the Women’s Month celebration.)

In a fervent call to arms, Meilou C. Macabare, provincial director of DTI Samar, stated that women must unite as unwavering allies, shattering divisions and illuminating a path of recognition and empowerment to forge a future where every woman’s voice resonates with strength and purpose.
